Classes began Monday. I don't have too much to say about that. Long lines, expensive books, first day introductions, syllabi, expectations. That is an adequate summary. The weather here has been less than awesome. The past three days there has been little to no sun and it has rained for at least part of the day. However, Adelaide is in desperate need.
Apparently Monday is a national holiday. I have no idea for what, but you know, it's probably just one of those Monday holidays that results in banks and post offices closing. Anyway, I have a three day weekend! I am not sure how I will spend this. Hopefully the weather improves and the beach will be an option.
More news soon!
YAY for the beach. I hope the weather behaves for you!!!
ReplyDeleteWikipedia says Monday is the Adelaide Cup--a Group 2 (83 races - minimum prizemoney AUD$125,000) horse race held in Adelaide. I wonder if all the women wear hats like at the Kentucky Derby? Seems that it must be a big deal if banks and schools, etc. get the day off for it. It could be quite the party atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteOh, I also learned Monday is Australian Labor Day. Probably a bigger deal than the races.
